Pitching 101

Here is the basic pitch formula: (90 Seconds)

Problem:

Describe the problem you are solving.

Opportunity:

Investors prefer large, addressable (meaning you can “reach” them) markets: Data here is essential. Give us believable market research that shows you understand who the customer and/or user is, and how many of them are out there.

Solution:

This is your unique solution to the problem – your “secret sauce”. What are you doing that others can’t or aren’t?

Traction (if any):

What indicators of success have you experienced so far? Have you interview potential customers? Do you have pre-orders? Have you piloted something? Do you have a prototype? Do you have any strategic partnerships set up with companies or groups that can help you? Do you have unique access to technology, or a license to use a resource that belongs to someone else? You get the point…

Team: Who is on your team? Why is your team different/special? Investors are not investing in your idea. They are investing in your team. Ideas change. What makes your team EXACTLY the people who can pull this off? Play to your strengths. If you are missing someone or a particular skill set, then be sure you can address it in Q&A.

What else? What pitch resources/ tips do YOU love?
